Miracle on Turf, Indeed!

THE MIGHTY HAVE FALLEN! The US football team just soundly defeated the #1 team in the world (Spain, unbeaten in 35 matches!) 2-nil to head to the Confederation Cup Finals this Sunday in Johannesburg (which I have a ticket to!)

Spain, the European champion, had set an international record with 15 straight victories and had tied Brazil’s record unbeaten streak of 35 games from December 1993 to January 1996. It was the first goal against Spain in 451 minutes, since Turkey’s Semih Senturk scored on April 1, and just the third goal the Spaniards allowed in 17 games dating to last summer’s European Championship.

It's called clearing the ball, defender.

I have been to 3 matches in the past week in Pretoria (USA v. Italy, USA v. Brazil, Brazil v. Italy), and watched much of this tournament with the rest of South Africa.  We are playing insane…much more to come on this, plus photos of soccer madness from Loftus soon.

Miracle on Turf, indeed.
